Title: Integrating very disparate applications

Author bio: Becky has been working for Unisolve Pty Ltd for around 5 years. She is a member of Melbourne Perl Mongers and a contributing author at perlmeme.org. She spoke at last year's conference on javascript technologies made available via Perl modules.

The talk will cover a description of the requirements of the project and limitations in the environment and software already in use. We will have a brief look at Spread, the third party (GPLed) software used in the solution to the problem, which offers APIs for C/C++, C#, Java, Perl, Python and Ruby. The talk will go into the details of the solution and how we overcame various hurdles along the way. We will also cover the necessity of message acknowledgment and how we implemented error handling and recovery.
